Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shut down a popular restaurant owned by Nation Media Group (NMG) employees over allegations of illegal dumping.
The governor stated that the decision was made after his officials raided the Nascos hotel on Wednesday and found out that the management had been illegally dumping waste using street urchins.
"The arrest reveals how business people are illegally dumping garbage. To make matters worse, they dump in locations away from their premises," Sonko stated.
The restaurant is owned by Nation Sacco whose membership is largely drawn from NMG employees.
It is also frequented by employees of the Aga Khan-owned media house.
A source at NMG told Pulselive.co.ke that they read mischief in the closure given the media house has recently clashed with the Nairobi county boss.
