NASA issues new demands to its MP’s ahead of Uhuru’s swearing in
New Development within the NASA coalition
During a meeting at Maanzoni Lodge in Mavoko Machako’s county, NASA have directed its MP’s not to Participate in vetting Cabinet appointees as it intensifies its protest against President Kenyatta election win.
The strategic meeting is being chaired by NASA leader Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi. The meeting is meant to chant the way forward for the NASA Coalition, a they plan to hold a rally a Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi, parallel to Uhuru’s swearing in ceremony that will be taking place at Kasarani Stadium.
After the swearing-in ceremony President Uhuru Kenyatta will have powers to appoint and present names of Cabinet secretaries who will then vetted by the national assembly.
It is said that the President is preparing to send home 11 cabinet secretaries after failing to meet expectations in his first term.
The decision is said to have been communicated in a closed door meeting with the all cabinet and permanent secretaries. Sources say that the president told his cabinet that he would send anyone mentioned in any corruption case packing.
The reshuffle is suspected to make way for new faces in the cabinet, some of whom may be from opposition stronghold.
On the other hand, NASA has suffered a major blow after the government made Uhuru Park unavailable for the swearing in of Raila Odinga.
The Nairobi county government has warned NASA that action will be taken against them if they went ahead to hold the ceremony at grounds.
This action comes barely a day after president Uhuru invited the NASA leader to his swearing in scheduled on the same day.
