Raila’s aide declines Uhuru’s ambassadorial job appointment

Raila's ally withdrawn from list of Uhuru's nominees of top state jobs

A day after President Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled his cabinet, a close ally to Raila Odinga who is among his nominees has declined the offer.

Ochillo Ayacko who was named as an Ambassadorial nominee in a list read by State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena.

He declined the offer saying he “wants to serve the people of Migori County in any capacity.”

“I am ready to serve the great people of Migori either as a ward rep, MP, senator or governor and that is where my focus is", he added.

While the numbers do not necessarily reflect a fully free and fair electoral competition, these African heads of state hold the record for landslide victories which often occurred in elections where opposition was locked out of participation, was weak or boycotted the polls altogether, or where the ruling party held dominant control.

The former Migori County gubernatorial candidate appreciated the nomination but hinted at even greater things awaiting him away from the job that he has been offered by the head of state.

“The nomination is indeed a great honour to me and I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta. But when you see my name being withdrawn from the nominees’ list, it is an indication that there’s something even better for me.” Ayacko disclosed.

Reports indicate that Ayacko has set his eyes on the Migori County senatorial seat that fell vacant following the death of Ben Oluoch Okello.

His name was replaced by  former Kasipul Kabondo MP Paddy Ahenda in the final list sent to newsrooms with sources close to him alleging that he had declined the appointment.

The changes saw Raila Odinga’s allies make a debut in government with key appointments to top state jobs in what is seen as a product of the March 09 handshake.
