Former Migori Member of County Assembly Lawrence Mula who had been arrested in connection to the murder of Rongo University Sharon Otieno will now testify against Migori Governor Okoth Obado.
Detectives from Homicide department confirmed on Wednesday that Mula together with taxi driver Jack Gombe had been turned into witnesses who they believe have much information to share concerning the murder of Ms. Otieno and her unborn child.
30 witnesses to Testify against Governor Obado
According to Daily Nation report, sources privy to the ongoing investigations revealed that other 30 witnesses have also been prepared ready to testify against Governor Obado.
“So far, we have three suspects who have been charged in court and more than 30 witnesses,” said a source.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti has however, extended the search for the fugitives to Uganda and Tanzania, hoping to bring to book those who raped, stabbed and strangled Sharon.
Kinoti said he could not reveal more on the regional hunt, fearing that it might compromise the search.
“What is I can say is that they won’t have any place to hide. We are on their trail,” he said.
Governor Obado was released on October 24 on a cash bail of Sh5 million, after spending nearly five weeks at Indistrial Area Remand Prison in Nairobi.
His co-accused and Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo and Migori County clerk Caspal Obiero were denied bail and their case will be mentioned in May 2019.
