Raila’s first official duty as People’s President causes tension in NASA

The fights in NASA have escalated

NASA had called for a National People’s Convention (NPC) slotted for February 28 (Wednesday) which Odinga stated would mark the beginning of his official duties as the People's President.

The meeting was scheduled to offer a platform for constructive dialogue between stakeholders and reinforce NASA’s campaign for electoral justice and self-determination.

However, with only a few hours to the historic convention, a section of NASA politicians have dismissed the event as unlikely to happen.

Wiper Secretary General Peter Mathuki appeared to shift blame to ODM for failing to consult partner parties in making plans for the convention.

“The initial plan was for the process to be undertaken in stages. We were first to have the people’s assemblies, then hold the convention where issues of reforms were to be deliberated upon before the swearing in of the people’s president,” Mathuki stated.

Mathuki stated that Wiper did not see any need for a convention since the swearing had already taken place.

Ford Kenya also appeared to read from the same script as Wiper, claiming Odinga’s swearing in had created confusion in the coalition.

“The dynamics of the swearing in of Mr Odinga brought confusion in the organs of NASA. So far there have been no decision on the convention. It will not be held, at least for now,” Ford Kenya Deputy Leader Boni Khalwale stated.
