Kalonzo’s team withdraws from Raila’s swearing in, issues tough demand to NASA

The decision was made after a meeting presided over by Kalonzo

In a resolution led by Wiper Chairman Kivutha Kibwana, the party stated that it supported a situation where Musyoka would lead dialogue talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.

Kivutha echoed Musyoka’s position that the swearing in plan should only be used as a last resort, further calling on both sides of the divide to promote peace, harmony, and unity.

In an interview published last Sunday, the former Vice President described himself as the “only glue” that can bring together Kenyatta and Odinga.

“If they – Uhuru and Raila – cannot come together, I hope they will allow me to bring them together so that they can look at each other in the face. These are people who have worked together in the past,” Musyoka remarked.

At the same time, Wiper has demanded that ODM withdraws one of its nominees to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), in order to give chance at least one member from Musyoka’s party.

Kibwana, who is also the Makueni Governor, confirmed that there was tension in NASA over unfair sharing of House leadership positions.

The Makueni Governor confirmed that Wiper had nominated Borabu MP Ben Momanyi to the powerful commission, only for ODM to replace him with one of its MPs.

“There has been disquiet in NASA over the sharing of House leadership positions. We demand a revocation. We have instructed the party leader Kalonzo to get the positions shared as earlier agreed,” Kibwana stated.
