This is how you should treat DP Ruto – Raila reveals what he told ODM leaders

Raila speaks out

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Mr. Odinga said that he had no problem with his leaders working with the DP.

According to the former Prime Minister, he has continually encouraged his members to work with Mr. Ruto as the Deputy President for the benefit of Kenyans.

“I have told members that Ruto is the Deputy President and if he wants to come to your constituency for a function, by all means, welcome him. And do the functions with him because he is part of the Government,” he said.

However, Odinga noted that the one topic that was out of bounds for discussion was the 2022 presidential race.

The NASA leader noted that this was one of the agreements he had with President Uhuru Kenyatta during the much-publicized handshake - when the two resolved to bury the hatchet.

Some ODM members from the Coast led by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa are on record pledging their support for DP Ruto, who has been pitching a tent in Opposition strongholds in what has been described as early political campaigns.

Nonetheless, the DP rubbished claims that he has been campaigning noting that he was simply focused on development.

The lawmakers, who have declared their support for Ruto, were hit with a seven-day ultimatum to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.

When questioned about this happenings during the Citizen TV interview, Odinga maintained that the members were out of order to start campaigning for Jubilee yet they are in ODM.

"If you are a member of a political party it is likely that the party will be having a presidential candidate. So when you start to campaign for a member of another political party, are you really a member of this political party?" Odinga posed.
