Raila reveals his greatest fear 2 days to his swearing in

NASA leader opens up on his Jamhuri day swearing in

In an interview with The Standard, the opposition chief disclosed that his greatest fear is what he termed as “the regression of the state and the implications this will have.”

Odinga noted with concern that Kenya was “moving backwards as a nation and the gains we made are slowly but surely being eroded.”

The opposition leader also revealed that NASA had what he termed as the authentic results of the 8 August presidential election in which he claimed to have won by more than a million votes.

He revealed that it is on the basis of those results obtained from IEBC servers that NASA will swear him in.

Referring to recent happenings where the opposition accused the police of using excessive force, the former Prime Minister linked it to higher authorities stating that “now on orders from above they kill innocent Kenyans.”

Meanwhile, a committee formed by NASA to handle Odinga’s swearing in is currently operating without a chairperson in fear of a crackdown by state security agencies.

Earlier this week, the Attorney General (AG) Githu Muigai declared the event unconstitutional, terming it high level treason punishable by death.

Shortly afterwards, police spokesperson Charles Owino confirmed that the police were ready to arrest anyone taking part in People’s Assembly meetings based on the advice of the AG.

Talks to convince Odinga to shelve his plans are yet to bear fruits with Western envoys and religious leaders in last-minute efforts to broker dialogue.
