Daniel Moi to save Ruto's career
This was the advice of Veteran Rift Valley politician David Sankori who noted that the bitter rivalry between Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could harm Ruto’s quest for the presidency.
The experienced politician advised that for Ruto to achieve anything in 2022, he needs the blessings of the former president Moi.
Sankori who once served as an assistant minister has volunteered to lead the mediation talks to unite the two politicians who have declared interest in the 2022 presidential race.
He stated that "We also believe Ruto can make a good leader and this is the reason we are asking him to seek Moi's blessings which he badly needs,"
"I am ready to be part of the reconciliation team. We need a serious team of elders from Rift Valley to travel to Kabarak to meet with Mzee Moi. Ruto needs Moi more because the former president has nothing to lose."
Following his retirement in 2002, Moi has remained a key player in Kenyan politics with President Kenyatta meeting and consulting him on numerous occasions.
Gideon Moi has come out strongly in a bid to bring the presidency back to the Moi family and challenging Ruto’s dominance in Rift Valley politics.
Ruto who was at one time a loyal supporter of Kenya African National Union fell out with his political mentor Daniel Moi and bolted out of the party.
