Music concerts in Kenya have evolved through the years with 2018 being one year that all concert lovers will remember.Party lovers and music lovers this year, were treated to music events that achieved the status ‘Sold out”.
The following are the concerts that attained that status:
Major Lazer Concert
The international electronic dance music group that comprises of Diplo, who is both a Dj and producer and Djs Walshy Fire and Jillionaire visited the country for the first time as a unit.
The trio delivered the most electrifying EDM performance in Kenya which even surpassed Diplo’s solo concert in the country in 2014.
Tickets to the event which was organized by Tuborg, were sold out a week to the concert.
The trio kept the hundreds of fans who had filled the Carnivore grounds on their feet with a performance that incorporated both their global songs and renditions of songs with popular Kenyan slang phrases as they waved the Kenyan flag.
Tarrus Riley Concert
The gifted reggae artist toured the country for a second time and delivered a memorable performance.
The concert that was sponsored by Homeboyz Radio at the KICC was packed to capacity hours before the show.
The Jamaican artist delivered a 3-hour stellar performance that left one lady in tears throughout the concert.
As a treat to the numerous reggae fans that had turned up, Riley shared the stage with Ziki, who is a Kenyan artist, and performed their hit collabo Kamata.
Rick Ross Concert
The American rapper set Nairobi on fire with his first ever performance in Kenya.
The NRG radio concert that took place in April at the Carnivore grounds was a hit despite the negativity it received from a section of Kenyans on social media.
Rumours spread like wild fire that the Rick Ross brought was a fake compared to the one seen on his music video.
Hip hop fans turned out in large numbers despite allegations that the price of the ticket was very expensive.
Chronixx Concert
The Jamaican born reggae artist visited the country in August and gave a resounding performance at the KICC grounds.
There was no space at the venue due to the number of fans that had turned up for the event.
Chronixx gave a two-hour performance that kept the crowd jumping on their feet as he sang Here comes trouble from his album dubbed #ChronologyWorldTour.
Homeboyz radio who were the organizers of the event, surprised the fans as many Kenya artist graced the stage despite not being featured on the poster.
Burna Boy Concert
The Nigerian born artist visited the country for a second time in October to deliver a performance of a lifetime.
Despite the negativity that surrounded the dancehall-reggae musician in regards to his comments where he called Kenyans peasants during his first visit, fans flocked Uhuru Gardens to a stunning night that lived up to the hype created towards the concert.
Djs Lenny and Coco Em hyped the crowd before Burna Boy took the stage and sent the crowd wild with excitement.
The epic moment of the event was when the Yawa-Dey hit maker performed a collabo with Sauti Sol accompanied by a Kenyan band.
The performance delivered by the musician would have led one to believe that the hatchet between the Tonight hit maker and Kenyans was now a story of the past.
