7 murdered in tribal clashes Narok County
Just five months into their truce, the clash prone area has lost 7 more people over tribal war.
The Deputy County Commissioner Mohammed Noor, confirmed the incident stating that the fight was between the Kispsigis and Maasai community in Transmara West Sub County.
This comes after a five months truce between the two communities known to be clash-prone.
The string of deaths started on Saturday night after one Maasai business man known as Ben Kolian from Esoit was ambushed and killed on his way home.
He said, “Mr Kolian was ambushed as he drove home in his taxi by unknown people.”
This sparked reaction by the Maasai which led to the death of a 20 year old Kipsigis male named Nicolas Ngetich.
According to Mr Noor, Nicolas was slain using a machete. His body was found at Pusanki Trading Center.
Samuel Naiduya who is the Esoit Naibor Chief stated that cries could be heard during the night of the killings, “The area is clash prone and there has been a relative spell of peace since the last round of fighting in April this year."
The number of bodies rose on Sunday morning to seven after the police discovered five more bodies in a bush in Esoit.
Mr Mohammed stated that the police are already looking for the murderers.
