Details have emerged of a secret deal between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and President Uhuru Kenyatta in readiness for the 2022 elections.
According to the Nation, the secret power sharing deal will see close allies to the Senator land six slots in the executive including cabinet positions due to his support for Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid.
Sources privy to the details disclosed that the Baringo Senator handed over the list of nominees to President Kenyatta on Thursday.
Those fronted include Nick Salat and Kiprono Kittony in what is understood to be an intricate deal that will see the Baringo Senator strengthen his 2022 presidential bid.
The sources also revealed that Deputy President (DP) William Ruto’s camp has been angered by the plans.
Ruto’s allies feel that “Senator Moi is out to benefit from the close ties that exist between the Mois and the Kenyattas yet he did not soil his hands hard enough to give the regime a second term in office.”
Mr. Ruto is reportedly unhappy with the arrangement even as Moi who has declared interest in 2022 presidential race takes the centre stage at state functions.
During President Kenyatta’s inauguration, the senator welcomed presidents Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), Salva Kiir (South Sudan) and former Tanzanian head of state Jakaya Kikwete.
This created a stir with Ruto's allies reportedly protesting the move.
