IEBC to move out of Nairobi CBD

Major changes at IEBC

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati has announced that the electoral commission will move its headquarters from Nairobi CBD to avoid major disruption of businesses whenever there are political protests.

Chebukati on Thursday stated that the commission was in the process of acquiring its own premises so that they can move from the rented space they occupy at Anniversary Towers.

He added that the move would go a long way in cutting additional costs for the IEBC which often hires spaces for training and meetings with external stakeholders.

"It is therefore in the greater interest of the city business community and residents for the operations of the commission to be undertaken away from the CBD."
