The wife of Deputy President William Ruto has been moving across the country to preach peace ahead of the August 8 General Election.
Rachel Ruto has now found herself in the dirty mud of politics after Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o accused her of a ploy to rig election in the county.
Speaking on Sunday after attending a church service at St. Stephens ACK cathedral in Kisumu, Mr Nyong’o alleged that the DP’s wife was being used to rig incumbent Governor Jack Ranguma during the upcoming poll.
According to Prof Nyong’o Mrs Ruto paid Sh100 Million for Ranguma to buy Identification (ID) Card in a bid to restrict them from voting during the polls.
The Senator claimed that Ms Rachel has secretly met Ranguma and one woman only identified as Jabalo to hatch the plan.
"On 6 July, Deputy President’s wife met with Governor Jack Ranguma and Jubilee party secretary General Raphael Tuju in a hotel in Kisumu where she gave nearly Sh100 Million to facilitate the buying of IDs," he said.
Nyong’o further disclosed that there was a second meeting where IEBC officials was plotting how presiding officers can influence President Uhuru Kenyatta votes in the county.
"We also have information that ICT expert from Nairobi were in Kisumu meeting with county Government ICT officials on how to jam thee biometric voter identification kits at the various polling station,” he noted.
Mr Nyong’o, who is seeking to become Kisumu’s Governor, highlighted that the ploy was also seeking to steal the votes of Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga who is seeking a second term.
