Reactions as David Ndii insults Uhuru in Kikuyu, dragging Mama Ngina

Economist David Ndii on Thursday evening lit up Twitter after insultingly responding to President Kenyatta’s statement denying counties money from the National Government.

Kenyatta said the government did not have money demanded by the governors and instead advised them to instead focus on generating their own revenue.

Ndii responded in his native Kikuyu language, terming President Kenyatta as a brat who thought taxpayers money belonged to his mother – former First Lady Mama Ngina.

Kaī ndūrīka īno īciragia mbeca ciothe nī cia Ngīna? (Does this brat think that all government money belongs to Mama Ngina),” Ndii tweeted.

Ndūrīka is a derogatory kikuyu word that drew wild reactions as some netizens accused the former NASA strategist of disrespecting the head of state.

I wonder what makes you stand out. Is it your level of ideology or your heightened level of disrespect? You can disagree with some maturity. Abusive language towards someone and mentioning their mother is despicable,” Veronicah Wamuyu complained.

David you are just a bright Oscar Sudi who went to group of schools,” @GDavid hit back.

Dr Ndii, we know you don’t exactly admire Uhuru but a little politeness won’t harm you one tidy bit,” Robert Ndegwa tweeted.

Danie Macharia went as far as reporting Ndii to the Kenya Police and the DCI.

@DCI_Kenya @PoliceKE @NPSOfficial_KE you should take note of this…it’s seriously a blow below the belt. Why insult the President with his mother. What does Mama Ngina have to do with the running of this country. I this this guy is deliberately crossing the redline,” Macharia stated.
