Uhuru reappoints Patrick Njoroge
Special gazette Notice announces Patrick Njoroge's re-appointment
In a special gazette notice, Dr. Njoroge whose tenure was set to end on June 19, 2019 was extended until 2023.
The CBK Governor was appointed in June 2015 on a four-year contract.
Njoroge had played down speculation on whether he would be reappointed, saying “he is not spending all day by the phone” waiting for a call from the President.
“I think all those that are asking me about whether the job offer is coming and all that, my view is simple. If it comes, it comes,” Dr Njoroge had said in response to questions from reporters.
Dr Njoroge, a former International Monetary Fund adviser, assumed the governor’s office amid a currency slump and inflation risks.
