A visiting Vice President has been hiding in his hotel room after he was stopped from leaving Kenya for his safety.

Reports by the Nation indicate that Vice-President Mohamud Sayyid Adan of Somalia’s Jubaland is hiding out in a hotel in Mandera.
Mr Adan is said to have stayed in his hotel room after Ethiopian forces stopped him from visiting Bula Hawa, a border Somali town.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are protecting Mr Adan together with members of his team at the hotel in Mandera.
Kenya Ethiopia row on Jubaland
Kenya and Ethiopia have high stakes in Jubaland because they both have troops in the United Nations backed African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom).
Jubaland has been at the centre of a growing power struggle in East Africa with Kenya and Ethipia playing silent crucuial roles in the past election held in August 2019.
Kenya government is said to have supported President Ahmed Islam Mohammed Madobe, who has ruled the region over the last eight years.
On the other hand, the Somalia government with the support of Ethiopia and Eritrea, wanted a central government, a position that created animosity between Mogadishu and Nairobi.
