Embakasi MP Babu Owino has been set free in the attempted murder case against Felix Orinda who was also known as DJ Evolve.

The charges against Babu Owino were dropped on Tuesday, December 14 at the request of DJ evolve.

The entertainer filed an application seeking to terminate the court proceedings that have dragged on since the incident happened in January 2020.

Earlier in 2021, the courts had declined DJ Evolve’s application, citing that it did not meet the threshold.

The DJ had argued that he had forgiven the MP and was focusing on healing and getting better.

However, the magistrate noted that the two parties needed to openly tell the courts what arrangements they had made before deciding to terminate the case.

"Unconditional withdrawal is not appropriate in the circumstances of this case; the parties must come out openly and tell court what Babu had offered the family," Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi said.

In July, it was reported that the two parties were in the last stages of finalising an out of court settlement.
