Reports indicate that the woman had traveled from Malaba border to see her spouse.
In the press statement issued by Kericho county on Monday morning, the disease surveillance team took all the necessary precautions to ensure minimal contact between the patient and others at the hospital.
KEMRI analyzing blood samples
"The County Department of Health Services is monitoring this potential case very closely and is working with the National Government to ensure that all essential procedures are followed to protect public health and safety," the statement read.
The patient's blood samples have been sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) for further analysis.
The preliminary test results are expected to be ready within the next 12 to 24 hours.
The governor's office assured Kenyans that the hospital was well equipped to ensure the proper isolation of the patient and the protection of other hospital users and called on residents to be calm.
No confirmed case of Ebola
According to the county, the symptoms exhibited by the patient can be indicative of any other medical condition and so there is no confirmed case of Ebola at the moment.
Kenya has been on high alert after two people died of Ebola in neighbouring Uganda.
The Ebola outbreak which has ravaged the neighbouring DRC for the last one year was Tuesday confirmed in Uganda in the western border district of Kasese.
