British Petroleum (BP) says it has made new gas discovery in the North Damietta Offshore Concession in Egypt’s East Nile Delta.

The BP Chief Executive, Bob Dudley, said in a statement late on Sunday that the latest discovery made it the third in the block.

Dudly reiterated that the discovery confirmed the firm’s belief that “the Nile Delta is a world-class basin.”

BP has 100 per cent equity in the discovery. It produces around 40 per cent of Egypt’s total gas.
