A newborn baby with its umbilical cord still attached, was found abandoned in a carton at a refuse dump site in Iwhrekpokpo, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Disturbing photos of the dead child were shared on Facebook by one Christian Onwugbolu, who explained that the child had been found alive but died while arrangements were being made for its rescue.

The baby looked to be newly born and likely to have been abandoned shortly after its birth.
