Zimbabwean official self destructs in the middle of corruption trial

The deceased made a dive from the 9th floor of a building in Harare following an ongoing corruption investigation.

The deceased, a former Chairman of Zimbabwe's State Procurement Board (SPB) reportedly dived from the 9th floor of the Club Chambers building in Harare, the country's capital.

A newspaper company, The Herald Zimbabwe reported that the suicidal man had been slammed with five counts of corruption charges before taking the plunge.

The incident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 19, 2017, has caused great panic in the capital.

Before his death, Kuwas had reportedly left his wife in his vehicle while on a visit to his office.

After forty minutes of endless waiting, she checked on him and found him dead on a tarmac around the office.

A police Chief Superintendent, Paul Nyathi commented that the law enforcement agency have began investigation into the suicide.

“The police are investigating circumstances in which a male adult is said to have jumped from the ninth floor of the Club Chambers building in Harare and died," he said.

Charles Tawonerera Kuwaz was under investigation for the embezzlement of a sum of $1 million before meeting his death.
