Fake doctor arrested for illegal hospital in Ogun

A fake doctor who has been running an illegal clinic for many years has been arrested after he defrauded a sick patient.

A fake doctor, Julius Afolabi, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly operating an illegal clinic where he had been carrying out surgical operations.

Punch reports that the suspect had been running the illegal hospital and maternity home, Adeolu Afolabi Clinic, for many years in the Abule-Iroko, Ota in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

But he met his Waterloo when he defrauded a woman of the sum N200,000 meant for fibroid treatment.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, while confirming the arrest of the fake doctor, said:

“Trouble started when the suspect collected the sum of N200,000 from one to treat her of fibroid and he was unable to remove the fibroid. This prompted Adelaja to report the case to the Police.

It was discovered that the self-acclaimed doctor and Medical Director of Adeolu Afolabi Clinic and Maternity Home, had never gone through any formal training that can qualify him to operate such outfit.”

While fielding questions from journalists, the suspect said though he had no formal training in medicine, he had worked with some doctors in the past and knew how to treat several ailments but he knew he could not treat the victim but was in need of money, which was why he defrauded her.
