NSCDC officer murdered by gunmen in mysterious killing

The Ekiti State Police are currently on the trail of the killers of an NSCDC officer allegedly murdered by cultists.

Sunday Afolabi, an operative service at the Ekiti State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been murdered by gunmen.

He was killed on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, along the Afao road in Ado Ekiti by suspected cultists according to the state Police.

Tolu Afolabi, a spokesperson for the NSCDC revealed that investigations are already ongoing in an interaction with newsmen.

Intense efforts are being made to identify the killers who reportedly shot the deceased in the heart.

His body has already been deposited at a mortuary according to reports.

Confirming the murder, Afolabi said: “Unknown gunmen have killed an officer of NSCDC, Sunday Afolabi, an Assistant Superintendent Corps 1 (ASC1), along Afao Road, Ado Ekiti at about 1530 on Wednesday, 19th April, 2017.

“The officer was shot in the heart and his corpse has been deposited at the mortuary while investigation continues.”

Spokesperson for the Ekiti State Police, Alberto Adeyemi, expressed sympathies over the killing of the NSCDC officer who was slaughtered close to his station.

He stated the determination of the force who are keen about fishing the alleged cultists behind the murder.
