Leadership Newspaper reports that the incident happened in Asaba, the capital of Delta State after the 51-year-old man, Joseph Abbah, a carpenter, absconded and abandoned his heavily pregnant wife, Mary, following the scan result.

It was gathered that the Abbahs who already have three children, a boy, and two girls, did not expect that they would be blessed with triplets and when the news broke, the man promptly disappeared, leaving behind his distraught wife.

While speaking on the disappearance of her husband, Mary, a petty trader, said that the doctor had insisted on a scan when she visited the hospital for the usual ante-natal care and that her husband had consented to her going for the scan and even provided the N4, 000 needed for it.

But when the result came out, it was not what Abbah expected and he just absconded.

“The following day, I went to the hospital with the money and after the scan, I was told I was carrying triplets; I was happy but unknown to me, my husband had a different intention.”

Mary further disclosed that on getting home, she informed her husband of the scan result and his countenance changed immediately he heard what was supposed to be good news.

She narrated that the following day after she and the children had gone out of the house, her husband allegedly told a neighbour that he was traveling to Benin-City for a contract and will stay for three days but that was the last that has been heard of him.

The worried woman added that after she could not get through to her husband on phone after several attempts, she went to meet him in Benin but could not locate him as he was said to have moved to another place.

She was to later get him on phone and he bluntly opened up and told her that he was not coming back as he had no money and the triplets will add to his problems.
