20-yr-old docked for allegedly stabbing man

The prosecutor said that the accused assaulted Alagbede because he refused to apologise when he flashed touch light on his face.

Bamgboye, who resides at No.5, Fafunmi Street, Ajasa, Lagos, is facing a count charge of assault.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told court that the accused committed the offence on April 28.

Egunjobi said the accused stabbed Alagbede with a knife after giving him punches and inflicting serious injuries on him.

He said that the offence contravened Section 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 172 prescribes three-year jail term for assault.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Osibanjo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osibanjo said that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of a two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The court adjourned the case until June 5.
