An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a man in prison after he pleaded guilty to the charge of breach of the peace.

The court ordered that the man should be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons pending sentence.

The accused, Ezenwata Samuel, 39, lives at Ibafo, Ogun State.

The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Onilogbo, who gave the ruling, said since the accused had pleaded guilty, the court had no option than to sentence him.

He then fixed March 27 for facts and sentence.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Ishola Samuel, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 16, at Thomas Salako Street, Ogba, Lagos.

He said the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by preventing customers from entering the shop of the complainant, Mr Ozurumba Joshua.

“He constituted a nuisance at the shop following  an argument between them.

“The complainant reported the case at the police station which led to the accused’s arrest.’’

The offence contravened Sections 166 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates three months imprisonment or N45,000 fine or both for offenders.
