A married couple based in the United States received the shocks of their life after a DNA test revealed that they are biological twins.

The pair made the shocking discovery while struggling to conceive and had visited a fertility clinic for help.

Further investigations into the case revealed that the twins, separated at a young age after their biological parents died in a car accident.

They were separately adopted into different families without the foster parents knowing about the other's twin.

The couple are mostly devastated as sibling marrige is outlawed in their Southern state.

The doctor who attended to them told Mississippi Herald, “They were attracted to each other due to their similarities. They felt they could really connect with each other. If only they had known the truth, it could have saved them so much pain later on.

“For me, it’s a particularly unusual case because my job is all about helping couples conceive a child. This is the first time in my career that I’ve been glad I haven’t succeeded in that regard.”
