Users across the world lament as messaging service shuts down

With millions currently unable access the app, no word on when the service might be restored.

Popular messaging service Whatsapp is down in some parts of the world including Nigeria and likely across Africa.

The app is also not working in the United Kingdom, United States and Brazil, but it was gathered that not all parts of these countries are experiencing the outage.

Users in the UK and other parts of Europe are lamenting bitterly as the app reportedly shut down around 9.00pm on Wednesday night, May 5.

Micro-blogging  site, Twitter is currently awash with the 'Whatsapp' down conversation - with many registering their displeasure.

Words are that the Facebook-owned chat app is testing some new feature that would allow users to pin conversations at the top of the menu within the app.

This is believed to be causing the temporary shutdown that is giving many migraine, especially those who do not have alternative messaging applications.
