Wambugu appealed for Maraga to come to his rescue after he said he was being attacked by members from the Kisii community and NASA followers following his petition last week against the CJ.

The MP had submitted a petition to the Judicial Service Commission seeking the removal of the Chief Justice following the Supreme Court ruling which nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory during the August 8 elections.
"In April, when the CJ told off President Uhuru Kenyatta for suggesting that Kisii's were in government because the Chief Justice is 'one of their son', Maraga was furious at having his position made into a political community issue. I am really hoping that the CJ will come out publicly and defend me from those people saying my petition against him was an attack on the Kisii,"Ngunjiri said.
The legislator has however since withdrawn the petition after President Kenyatta prevailed upon him to do so.
During a meeting with Central Kenya leaders at Sagana State Lodge last week, Kenyatta asked Mr Wambugu to withdraw the petition, saying Jubilee Party’s focus should be on the repeat presidential election on October 17.
“I understand your pain and action. But we have an election to win on Oct 17. That has to be our focus. Leave the court alone. All we want is for the will of the people to prevail,” Kenyatta stated.
