Kenya’s Simbas beat Senegal 45-25 in an Africa Gold Cup match played on Saturday July 15 at RFEUA grounds.

Kenya went to the match as favourites having walloped Tunisia 100-10 last week when Senegal went down 95-0 to Namibia.

Head coach Jerome Paarwater never tinkered with the winning squad so much and so it was expected that Kenya was to reign supreme.

However, when the two sides took to the pitch, the visitors went ahead with a 3-0 lead in the first few minutes of the match.

Skipper Darwin Mukidza then completed a brace plus a successful conversion to put Kenya at 12-3 by the 15 minute mark.

Senegal pushed hard and touched down once plus a conversion to close the gap to 12-10 with 10 minutes to the end of first half.

Joshua Chisanga and Mukidza scored once apiece thereafter to make it 24-10 at the halftime stroke following Mukidza’s missed conversion.

In the second half, David Ambunya scored a try then Mukidza hit the conversion to put the score-line at 31-10 before Steve Sargos converted a penalty try for the visitors.

Homeboyz Rugby man Philip Ikambili scored his first try in national team colours to give room for a Mukidza conversion almost immediately.

Georges Mendy and Steve Sango then put it 38-20 for the visitors before Mukidza and Kenny Andola sealed the 45-20 win.
