Kamukunji side Jijazie FC are the 2017 Nairobi Governors Cup Champions after edging out True Gunners 2-0 in a match played on Sunday July, 30, 2017, at the Nairobi City Stadium.
In the ladies category, Beijing Raiders from Mathare won the title after a 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sports Ladies while Real Amputees edged out Barca Amputees 2-1 to take home the Amputee contest
Jijazie scored two quick goals in three minutes through Francis Ocholla and James Okello in the 17th and 20th minutes respectively for a deserved 2-0 halftime lead; a score-line they held on to emerge the ultimate champions
For ladies, Ann Matinde the lone goal to help Beijing Raiders overcome Nairobi East Champions Kariobangi Sports Ladies as Turkey-based Mujameed Munga Ndegwa hit a brace for Real Amputees in the 2-1 win over Barca Amputees whose consolation was scored by Safari Katheku.
Jijazie were awarded kshs 1.5 Million for their exploits in the Governor Evans Kidero sponsored tournament while runner's up True Gunners pocketed kshs 1Million.
The Ladies champion Beijing Raiders got kshs 500,000 while losing finalists Kariobangi Sports Ladies got kshs 300,000 while the Amputee Champs Real Amputees got ksh 500,000.
Awarding ceremony for winners of all categories from the Constituency level will be held on Thursday 3rd August 2017 at Kasarani Gymnasium to be presided over by Governor Evans Kidero and His Deputy Jonathan Mueke.
