South African media company SuperSport is exiting the Kenyan market days after it terminated its contact with Kenya Premier League giving Kenyan stadiums a blackout.

In a bit to vacate the Kenyan Market SuperSport has laid off 100 employees who have been serving on a 1 month notice since the settlement of KPL and SuperSport kicked off.

“It is done. We have been laid off and time has come to explore opportunities. To be honest. We knew it was coming” said one of the laid employees.

Those affected by the latest move of SuperSport are Presenters, Producers, analysts, Technicians, camera person’s office cleaners and thousands of freelancers.

The cabinet secretary for Sports Hassan Wario dismissed the possibility of SuperSport coming back to the Kenyan Football.

The Kenyan football governing bodies KPL and FKF also confirmed that SuperSport is are not coming back to the Kenya.

According to FKF Chief Executive Officer Robert Muthomi SuperSport have given a response to their effort of trying to lure them back to the Kenyan Premier League.

“Yes, we got a response from SuperSport and the long and short story of it is that they are not coming back,’’ said Robert Muthomi.

Kenya Premier league CEO Jack Oguda said it is not the end of the road of the Kenyan football as they are looking forward to get new broadcaster of the league.
