3 most expensive celebrity births in Kenya
Dj Pierra paid a whopping Sh500,000 maternity fee
Though one of the promises of the ruling Government has been to eliminate maternity fee and avail the service to mothers across the board, a couple of celebs are now using thousands.
Popular disk Jockey Dj Pierra used a whopping Sh500,000 to pay for her daughter Ricca Pokot’s maternity fee.
In an interview with True Love the female dj divulged that she gave birth naturally. Her NHIF cover did not cater for any bills.
“I paid the entire cost of the pregnancy and childbirth out of the pregnancy and childbirth out of my pocket. It drained lots of my savings, but I truly appreciate my doctors, who were with me in my journey.
“I had just changed my insurance and as it turns out, you have to wait 10 months before you can be covered for pregnancy and delivery,” she disclosed.
Former NTV news anchor Lizzie Ntonjira also coughed Sh366,000 and her NHIF catered Sh200,000 of the fee.
Lizzie had an impromptu C-section after a failed natural birth.
At the same time, radio queen Lynda Nyangweso spent Sh350,000 for her C-section birth.
“My bill was pretty high because I developed an infection after delivery. The number still makes me cringe,” she said.
Luckily, she did not use a dime from her pocket because she had a dual insurance, hers and her husband’s.
