Akombe abruptly quit IEBC and fled the country just a week to the repeat presidential poll that had been ordered by the Supreme Court.
Speaking on Wednesday in an interview on Citizen TV, Chiloba disclosed that Akombe had different views on management of an election which most commissioners disagreed with.
"We had our own internal challenges, Akombe leaving at the critical moment. She had her own views about how she though elections were going to be managed. Majority of us disagreed with those views," Chiloba said.
The IEBC CEO said that her resignation was a wake-up call to the rest of the team and they realised that they had to pull together in order to deliver the repeat polls.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati
Akombe's exit from the electoral body sparked mixed reactions from the public with many calling for the postponement of the elections.
After fleeing to the US, the ex-IEBC commissioner said that the electoral body was not in a position to deliver a free and credible poll as demanded by the court.
"The commission in its current state can surely not guarantee a credible election on October 26. I do no want to be party to such a mockery to electoral integrity," she said.
However, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati announced that they would proceed with the elections despite her exit.
Raila Odinga
NASA leader Raila Odinga went ahead and pulled out of the repeat poll stating that IEBC was not in a position to guarantee free polls.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner after garnering over 7 Million votes in the October 26th election.
