The party’s Youth League Leader in Nairobi, Jonah Onyango, stated that the move was motivated by the recent peace agreement between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.
Onyango stated that the ODM youth leaders were solidly behind the two leaders in their efforts to unite Kenyans.
He stated that the two leaders must, however, ensure that the youth are represented in the peace talks given that the young people were adversely affected in the election-related conflict.
“We are just requesting for a chance so that we can also sit together and ask each other for forgiveness. The Nairobi business community with whom we had confrontations during the demonstrations.”
“We have no hatred with them and in the same spirit that baba (Raila) and Uhuru shook hands, we are ready to work with our fellow youth from Jubilee,” Onyango stated.
The Nairobi Business Community is a controversial group of rough-looking men claiming to be small-scale investors in the city.
The dreaded group had numerous confrontation with NASA supporters who held sustained demonstrations after the August 8 election.
