Mosquitoes are an annoying dangerous pest that can not only bring about diseases such as malaria or dengue fever, they can also leave itchy bites that are swollen and sore.

Sometimes using insecticide may not be enough.

Here are 6 easy ways you can repel mosquitoes at home.

Mix thirty drops of lavender oil with two tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil. This leaves your skin feeling refreshed and the lavender oil acts as a repellants.

2. Burn rosemary

The smell of the pungent spice will keep away mosquitoes. Take a twig, put it in an incense jar then allow it to burn.

3. Eat more garlic

Garlic oil acts as a barrier between mosquitoes and your skin. Eating more garlic makes your skin produce more garlic oil.

4. Use baby oil

The smell of baby oil is also detested by mosquitoes.

5. Plant rosemary, basil and lavender

Get a pot and plant these herbs and place them against your windows. Rosemary, lavender and basil are natural mosquito repellants.

6. Invest in a fan

Mosquitoes can't fly against the resistance caused by the near violent air emitted from a fan. Putting one facing away from your bed on your nightstand can help keep them away.
