A Jubilee Party Senator from Central Kenya has demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of NASA strategist.

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kangata has written to the Director of Public Prosecution Mr Keriako Tobiko with view to have NASA’s chief strategist, economist and MD of Africa Economics David Ndii prosecuted over secession remarks he said in various televised interviews.

In the letter on Thursday, Mr Kangata who is also the Jubilee Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate called for Ndii’s arrest over  remarks he made during a programme aired on NTV on August 22.

“Those sentiments are treasonable, hence actionable in criminal law under section 40(1)(b) of the Penal Code,” Mr Kangata argued.

The senator said Ndii repeated the remarks on September 13 on Citizen’s Cheche programme.

Last month, the economist said NASA would “call for mass action if court fails.”

He added: “If change cannot come through the ballot, it will come through the bullet.”

He said the decision comes from a need to seek a free democratic space.

NASA moved to the Supreme Court and successfully challenged the results of the presidential election that saw Uhuru win with over 8 million votes, while Raila got above 6 million.

Ndii’s sentiments irked some Kenyans led by former Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire, who asked Ndii if he would be leading the revolution accompanied by his family.

“I am just wondering if he will lead the bullet revolution from the front with his wife and children,” Mbarire said.

The push by Mr Kangata comes in the wake of arrest and eventual prosecution of former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama over what the DPP said were inflammatory remarks about the president in a campaign rally in Nairobi.

Alongside him, Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria was apprehended for hate speech against NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
