Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has responded to former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga’s criticism after his dress down a letter to Chief Justice David Maraga.
Last week, Mr. Tuju left heads turning after penning a letter accusing Mr. Maraga of attempting to burn Kenya through the reluctant way he dealt with NASA after the August 8 General Election.
The former Rarieda MP also highlighted eight instances which according to him Mr. Maraga had winked at NASA to disobey the rule of law.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Mr. Tuju maintained that he had no regrets penning the missive to Maraga and challenged Mutunga to highlight any points in his letter that were untrue.

“I wish that he would take any one of those eight points I raised in my letter and say this is wrong, this is a lie, this is out of order. But just referring to the letter, in general, is very unfortunate,” he said.
Mutunga failed Judiciary
The Jubilee Secretary-General went ahead to accuse Mr. Mutunga of the failure in the Judiciary noting: “In fact, I hold him responsible for some of the challenges happening in the Judiciary. For instance, when he talked about you must uphold court orders even if they are idiotic”.
Mr. Tuju reiterated that the powers of the Judiciary must be moderated.
Mr. Mutunga had taken issue with Tuju’s letter to CJ Maraga stating that it was a big mistake for him to write directly to Maraga. He mentioned that such complaints ought to be forwarded to Office of the Judiciary Ombudsperson.
Revisiting Judiciary
Mr. Mutunga referred to Tuju’s move as that which reflects the arrogance of political power.
According to the law, the office of the Judiciary Ombudsperson is mandated to investigate complaints of abuse of power, unfair treatment, manifest injustice or unlawful, oppressive, unfair, or unresponsive official conduct among Judicial officers.
“Raphael Tuju. Your letter to CJ Maraga reflects the arrogance of political power and utter disrespect of the institution of the CJ as head of the Judiciary, and the institutions he heads, namely, the JSC, NCAJ, and NCLR. Your complaint should have been addressed to OJO,” he tweeted.
