A 24 year old man from Kirinyaga County committed suicide and left an unusual request for his wife.

Elias Chomba, who was a boda boda operator from Kangai village in Mwea-West, left a suicide note for his wife cautioning her against getting married to another man.

According to the suicide note seen by Kathiga Chief Jeremiah Muriithi, Elias also warned the village men against ‘playing around’ with his wife.

“He left a note saying his wife should be given maximum protection by the family, and that the plot of land he was supposed to be given by his mother to be given to a certain Macharia who is, in turn, expected to act as his wife’s guardian,” Mr Muriithi was quoted by Citizen Digital.

Elias’ reasons for taking his own life are still not clear as he was reported to have been in high spirits just minutes before he committed suicide.

His family were also shocked by his death as they were not aware of any issues that may have led to him taking his own life.

The deceased’s body was transferred to Kibugi Funeral Home awaiting postmortem.
