While she said an emotional goodbye to her listeners of two years, her fiancé sneaked into the studio with flowers, a guitar and their young daughter Aoki. Right behind him was Hot Breakfast host David Oyuke who came in carrying cake and a bunch of balloons.
Richard then started serenading a surprised Monique with a beautiful song to mark her last day at the Mid-Morning show.

For many this came as a surprise as Kenyan men are not known for public romantic gestures but Richard said that this should not come as a surprise as romantic gestures are a usual affair for the couple “I surprise her a lot. It doesn’t have to be on Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t have to be a special day. It is any day for me, especially when she least expects. It is not driven by time or anything; it is driven by my action just to show her that I love her.” (Source Edaily)
