The Nation Media Group (NMG) has finally broken the silence after ‘secretly’ terminating its contract with National Super Alliance (NASA) chief strategist and well-known Economist David Ndii.

Ndii who has been writing a column for the local paper for more than twenty years accused the Aga Khan-owed media house of ending the contract without informing him offically.

The Economist has used the column to castigate the Government and expose economic misdoings of the administrations.

In a letter to Ndii, Saturday Nation Editor Ng’ang’a Mbugua explained that the paper was undertaking quality control activities, a process that affected his column.

"I write to advise that we are reviewing the op-ed pages of our platforms with a view for enhancing their relevance and utility value. This is part of quality control activities we undertake routinely.

"As part of this, The Saturday Nation will be temporarily suspending the publication of your column. We hope that we will be able to reinstate it at the end of the exercise," Mbugua's letter reads.

Mr Mbugua wrote the missive after the Economist discovered through media reports that his column had been scrapped off.

"I believe you are aware of media reports to the effect that the NMG has terminated my contract as a columnist contract.

I have taken the step of writing to you because I have completely failed to get any communication from the staff concerned on this matter," Ndii letter reads.
