David Oguyo from Siaya caused excitement when he shaved dreadlocks that he had religiously taken care of for over ten years.
The Siaya businessman on Tuesday January 30, took to shaving his dreadlocks as a way of expressing his excitement after NASA leader Raila Odinga ‘swearing-in’ as the ‘People’s President’.
David Oguyo, who has had the dreadlocks for over ten years said that his initial decision to have the dreadlocks followed the alleged stolen victory of Odinga in the 2007 general elections.
Oguyo said he was annoyed by the manner in which the 2007 elections were allegedly rigged further intimating his vow not to shave them until such a time when Odinga takes the oath of office as the President of this country.
The father of six termed yesterday’s ceremony as hope for a better life.
According to Oguyo, Odinga is the only person who can liberate this country from what he referred to as ‘the yoke of dictatorship and bad leadership’.
National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga was ‘sworn in’ at Uhuru Park, in his much-publicized controversial swearing-in.
Mr Odinga took the oath as the People's President with the help of Canadian-based lawyer Miguna Miguna and Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang.
He was in the company of Siaya Senator James Orengo and businessman Jimi Wanjigi. Also in attendance was Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
