Detectives arrest more suspects in connection with illegal sim card registrations

This follows a series of crackdowns that have seen several sim card fraudsters arrested.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Detectives have arrested 11 more suspects in connection with illegal sim card registrations.

In a statement through their official twitter account, the DCI announced that eleven suspects were arrested with unlawful registration of sim cards on Saturday.

During the operation, two laptops and 15,000 sim cards were confiscated adding that the suspects would be arraigned in court on Monday.

“ Detectives last night arrested suspects in connection with registration of sim cards. Laptops and approximately thousand assorted simcards were confiscated. The suspects will be arraigned in court on Monday.,” read part of the statement.

According to the DCI, also recovered in the Saturday night raid were four agent lines, two Safaricom sim registration books, One Airtel registration book, several ATM cards, a Safaricom modem and several cell phones.

The arrest comes in the wake of a crackdown on sim card fraudsters, that has seen several mobile telecommunication companies employees arrested with their accomplices for defrauding unsuspecting Kenyans.
