Marijuana smoking
In Kenya, Marijuana smoking is illegal and the law states that anyone found in possession or usage of the drug should be handed 20 years imprisonment contrary to Section 3 (1) and Section 3 (2) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Act No. 4 of 1994.
According to section 3 (2) of Act No. 4 of 1994 the offence (Marijuana possession or smoking) carries twenty (20) years imprisonment.
Cannabis ("bhang") was banned in Kenya during the British colonial East Africa Protectorate under the Opium Ordinance, effective 1 January 1914.
