Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Ezekiel Mutua has given reasons why he no longer graces our TV screens for interviews anymore.
The man known for his staunch support for good morals said that he is a media owner by virtue of his following on social media and that is the place he uses to set his agenda.
“I am a media owner in my own right by virtue of my huge fan base on social media. That's why these days I don't bother going to the newsrooms unless I am dealing with a friend or someone I respect,” said Ezekiel Mutua.
The moral police man said that social media is now the mainstream media adding that bloggers like Cyprian Nyakundi, Robert Alai, Gordon Opiyo and Wahome Thuku have a bigger following than most mainstream celebs and they influence public opinion more than the so called mainstream journalists.

Ezekiel also criticized the mainstream media saying that it has failed to set the right agenda for development and for a long time they have been only conveyor belts of rumour and propaganda.
“In the newsrooms, headlines are determined by the bizarre and the ugly - when it bleeds, it leads. Little wonder we have more quacks in this profession than even in medicine. DJs, comedians and socialites call the shots in newsrooms and are paid more than the trained journalists,” he said.
