Kenyans disappoint Uhuru at Kasarani Stadium

Kenyatta arrived at the Stadium at around noon

Kenyans on Tuesday turned up in low numbers at the Kasarani Stadium where President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to preside over the 54th Jamhuri Day celebration.

When President Kenyatta last attended a function at Kasarani Stadium, it was packed beyond capacity as thousands graced his second inauguration ceremony.

However, on Tuesday, the historic Stadium was filled with empty benches as most Kenyans gave the event a wide berth.

Majority of foreign dignitaries also skipped the event, with former Ghanaian President John Mahama being the most notable guest.

Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

Others who graced the ceremony were diplomats, Chief Justice David Maraga and a host of governors and their deputies.

Outside the stadium, dozens of security officers were seen keeping watch in the area.

The bubble was, however, burst after NASA cancelled Odinga's swearing in ceremony which had been slotted for Tuesday.
