The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has turned down an offer by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Mr. Sossion was among those chosen by the Orange party as nominated Members of Parliament.
The list was then forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
On Monday, however, Sossion asked the party leader Raila Odinga to remove his name from the nomination list.
The KNUT Secretary General request Mr. Odinga to choose another candidate in his place.
Speaking in Kabarnet, Mr Sossion divulged that he will be turning his focus on the Union duties.
Sossion was nominated by ODM to represent workers having served as the Chairman and Secretary-General of KNUT as well as chairperson of the Trade Union of Kenya (TUK).
In June he made his interest public stating: "We wrote to all political parties asking them to nominate workers' representatives to parliament. If ODM picked me, that is welcome for we shall diligently represent workers".
