Thanos really tied the room together.

After Avengers: Endgame's early time jump, we regroup with Thor looking a little different: his beard has grown way out, there are always sunglasses on his face, he's rocking a cardigan sweater, and seems to perpetually have an alcoholic drink in his hand. There's little doubt that Thor's new look is Dude-esque. So, when Tony Stark calls him "Lebowski," it's an easy laugh, and one that fans of the Coen Brothers' 1998 cult classic The Big Lebowski surely get a kick out of.

It turns out that reference was a popular one around the set.

"We would refer to him at times, as the character, as Lebowski, internally, as a joke," co-director Joe Russo said in an exclusive interview with Men's Health.

Khalif Kairo and his former business partner Clement Kinuthia are locked in a heated exchange of accusations, with Kairo now alleging that Clement not only cheated on his wife but also had an affair with his (Kairo’s) girlfriend. The car dealer also revealed that he is currently single, but will introduce a new lady once he resolves the issues surrounding his business.

There's an added layer of humor though the whole thing when considering the full-circle nature of everything that this film represents. When you think about the fact that Endgame is wrapping things up as the 22nd film of the MCU, it might be tough to remember that Tony Stark's very first main foe-Obidah Stane in the original Iron Man-was played by Lebowski himself, Jeff Bridges.

"Its really funny, and Im sure that Downey was thinking of that when he threw that out there," Russo said, before sharing that "Lebowski" was something of an internal code name for this version of Thor . "But Downey was very clever to drop that as an improv on camera."
