In totally shocking (but not really) news, Bachelor in Paradises Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton have ~officially~ called it quits. The former fiancs announced their breakup in simultaneous Instagram posts on Tuesday, December 10.
One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that its okay to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness. To fight for what is real and good, and that often times the hardest thing and the right thing are the same, Katie wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and Chris. Weve reached a point in our story where we agree its best to go our separate ways. We have chosen to love and respect each other as friends because thats the base of our relationship, and its what is most natural for us. We are incredibly thankful for the support weve received from our family, friends and everyone who supported us throughout our journey - from paradise to this moment.
Katie said that the former couple is grateful for what theyve learned together and are hopeful for what is to come in life and in love for both of us.

Bachelor veteran Chris post said the exact same thing, but shared a pic from when they got engaged on BiP. (Sigh.)
Katie and Chris didnt get into details of why they ultimately split, but there was a solid clue that things werent going according to plan as early as the Paradise after show, when Katie wasnt wearing her ring . She also said that she felt like Chris wasnt giving the relationship his all.
Katie later told People that they werent breaking up, though. Its so hard to explain. I knew we had talked about that before, and it had been really hard for us to communicate our differences and what each other needed, especially being kind of like stranded and in hiding while separated, she said. Really hard, especially because Chris is such a man of action and quality time and he does things for people, and talking on the phone all the time was a little bit harder to get words out of him.
Since then, though, Katie said that things had been so great between the two. Weve been able to be together, and hes met my family and my friends, and seeing him with them, has been its just been so much better now that we can like hang out, she said.
Fellow BiP stars like Dylan Barbour, Caelynn Miller-Keyes, and Sydney Lotuaco all weighed in with heart emojis. Nicole Lopez-Alvar also chimed in with this: :( heart u mama.
Since Bachelor in Paradise wrapped, former engaged couple Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty have also split. Only Dylan and Hannah Godwin are the only engaged couple still headed down the aisle from season six.
